Xerox Corp. rolled out new knowledge management systems and services yesterday that are designed to help organizations leverage their intellectual assets in a variety of business functions, from sharing and managing documents to more organized customer catalogs.
The Knowledge-Sharing portfolio is a key piece of Xerox's overall Global Industry Solutions Portfolio, an initiative aimed at the document-dependent environments of financial services, manufacturing, graphic arts, and the public sector. Also introduced yesterday, Global Industry Solutions provides companies with consulting services, hardware, and software, according to Xerox.
The Knowledge-Sharing portfolio expands Xerox's current knowledge-management offerings and is designed to help companies increase employee productivity, improve sharing among various business groups within an organization, and apply knowledge management functions to revenue-generating business activities, the company says.
A new service offering, Xerox askOnce, provides users with unified access to external and internal information, to make it easier to search, retrieve, and use information. As part of the service, consultants and systems integrators from Xerox Professional Services will help organizations integrate their Web search engines, data information retrieval systems, and databases.
A combination software/services offering, Xerox MobileDoc is designed to help mobile workers access and control the distribution of documents remotely. The service includes remote access capabilities via thin clients such as smart phones, two-way pagers, and personal digital assistants.
As part of the Knowledge-Sharing portfolio, the company also launched Xerox Connect Distributed Learning, a Web-based training system that lets users access an organization's training resources through a single point of entry.
Other pieces include Xerox EcoWorx, a document-management system built on top of Documentum's software designed to help companies better manage environment and health and safety issues, and comply with standards and regulations; and Xerox High Impact Custom Catalogs, an integrated system that creates, segments, sorts, and prints custom catalogs targeted at specific sets of customers.
Xerox also said it's partnering with RTMS, combining RTMS' customer-relationship management software with Xerox's digital printing systems to provide organizations with a marketing solution that combines exact transaction analysis, one-to-one campaign management, and digital printing.
