Allegro Networks

Allegro Networks is a privately-held data communications equipment startup that manufactures and markets high-performance broadband internetworking products to carriers. Headquartered in San Jose, California, the Company was founded in January of 2000 and is credited with the innovation of the first multi-router.

Allegro Networks' multi-router is a new type of edge routing system built specifically for telecommunications carriers. Unlike traditional routers, Allegro Networks' multi-router system provides multiple physical routers within a single chassis letting carriers reliably support the concurrent operation of multiple routers and routed environments. These products are targeted at facilities-based carriers, such as incumbent local exchange carriers (ILECs) or interexchange carriers (IXCs) enabling them to optimize the edge of their networks as well as begin selling routing as a service. To date, the Company has secured over $80 million dollars in two rounds of venture capital financing from Bessemer Venture Partners, Columbia Capital, Infinity Capital, Rustic Canyon Group and Thomas Weisel Venture Partners. Employing a staff of approximately 165 around the world, Allegro Networks is led by Dave House, president, CEO and chairman of the board of directors.
