The nice thing about Web 2.0 technologies like blogs and wikis is that it makes it easy for just about anyone to create content.  As Andrew Conry-Murray notes in this week's Information Week, The bad thing about Web 2.0 technologies like blogs and wikis is that it makes it easy for just about anyone to create content.  Well, maybe it's not the content creation that's the problem, it's the fact that most organizations that I talk to haven't yet put in an enterprise-wide Web 2.0 strategy, so content is being created in a disjointed fashion in a number of different locations, leading to an information management nightmare as well as an inability to support enterprise retention and compliance requirements.

This creates an opportunity for content management and search vendors such as Microsoft (via its FAST acquisition), Endeca, and Google among others to tackle the problem of finding and classifying Web 2.0 created wiki pages and / or blog posts.  Enterprise IT managers will likely need to investigate strategies for integrating Web 2.0 into their CMSs until they are able to deploy a consistent Web 2.0 framework throughout the organization.
