Viador Upgrades Enterprise Portal Suite
Viador Inc. today unveiled a new version of its enterprise portal software designed to make it easier for companies to search, categorize, and access data--both structured and unstructured--from a single entry point.
Viador E-Portal Suite version 6 lets users access business information from a variety of data sources, such as Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office, Web sites, relational and multidimensional databases, as well as ERP and legacy systems--all from Web browsers that can be personalized to meet the specific needs of each organization.
Companies can set up the portal to deliver information categorized by subject, time, and job function. The interface can be personalized to have an organization's specific brand, look, and feel, and individual users can customize the interface to suite their preferences.
The new version, which also offers customers direct access to more than 500 news sources and business, investment, and travel services, will include Infoseek Software's Ultraseek Server search engine. The Ultraseek Server adds to Viador's portal the ability to search on and categorize information in a variety of formats, such as HTML and Microsoft Excel documents.
``For the first time, we are now able to get single-source access for all databases," says Steve Dille, VP of worldwide marketing at Viador. The integration of Infoseek's search engine ``is not a loose integration. It is an actual embedding of the technology,'' he says.
Slated to ship in the third quarter, the price of the suite starts at $30,000. Initial availability will be on Microsoft Windows NT, with Unix platforms to follow.
