CIOs and Innovation
The talk of innovation is fine but does everything have to be solved that way? Innovation means something new and something new means possible risk. Innovation for the sake of innovation and without a sound business reason is even higher risk. Please, in these articles, temper the gung-ho, JR Ewing approach with caution and risk analysis plus a very good reason and the ROI/TCO for being 'dynamic, innovative ' and all those good things. Also, seek the opinion of others, especially graybeards, as no CIO has a monopoly on vision and common sense. Consensus is better than cockup. I know 'cos I've been in and around IT for nearly half a century.
