Sterling Software, Intraspect Launch Portal Products

Software products for helping companies harness and share information from multiple sources and formats are due in the next two weeks from Sterling Software Inc. and Intraspect Software Inc.

Sterling this week plans to unveil Vision:Kaleidoscope, which is built on a Java architecture and designed to give companies a single Web interface for users to query and analyze information. They can also build reports, online analytical processing cubes, and charts, as well as collaborate online.

Intraspect next week will launch Knowledge Server 2.5, an upgrade to its portal product. It includes templates so users can personalize the knowledge management application. It also includes Intraspect Knowledge Spider for Lotus Notes, which can search Notes documents and databases within an organization. Intraspect has also added support for the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol so IT managers can tie user administration to LDAP-based directory servers.

Pricing for Sterling's Vision:Kaleidoscope will start at $100 to $150 per user. Pricing for Intraspect Knowledge Server 2.5 will range from $300 to $600 per user.
