Interwoven recently released significant upgrades to TeamSite, it's flagship content management system as well as LiveSite, its content customizing marketing tool.Released late last month, the enhancements focus on three key areas: simplifying installation process, improving the content creation tools, and adding a number of modules that enhance the functionality of the core application features such as improvements to navigation, customized content and social media tools.

TeamSite's last significant release was nearly a year ago, but it's clear that they've been busy resolving issues and adding new capabilities.

Administrators should like the simplified installation process, which finally combines the installation of TeamSite, SitePublisher and LiveSite, as long as each component is properly licensed.

Content creators using TeamSite will be pleased to find that the tool now allows multiple pieces of content to be metatagged concurrently, significant improvements to the content search and enhancements for finding and replacing content.

SitePublisher, TeamSite's WYSIWYG authoring interface, also received a facelift, with improvements to the page layout tools, significant performance enhancements and the ability to create more search engine friendly URLs.

On the LiveSite side, 3.1 adds a number of interesting features specifically focused on customizing the experience for anonymous end-users. LiveSite 3.1 is now able to serve up custom content based on the site the user is coming from, as well as other parts of the site they've visited. Having the ability to generate dynamic content based on this information allows marketing departments to tweak the experience depending on why you're visiting the site and what you've been looking at.

Add to all of these new features a long list of bug fixes to both TeamSite and LiveSite, and you've got a compelling reason to upgrade, as well as a good reason to put Interwoven on the list of tools to evaluate for organizations seeking to select a new content management system.
