I was pleased to learn from our latest poll that I'm not alone in the sentiment. In our most recent Business Intelligence Pipeline Voting Booth, we asked readers if customer concerns about the security of personal information could threaten their future ability to carry out customer analytics. A combined 76 percent of respondents answered either "yes" or "possibly." Only 24 percent said "no" or "probably not."
The results fit with recent research findings that more than 60 percent of consumers now say they fear for the safety of personal information they share with businesses online.
BI practitioners don't need to panic yet. But the time has come to speak out if security practices at your organization don't pass muster.
