Vignette Achieves Leader Status in META Group's Evaluations of Web Content Management Markets

News - July 15, 2004

Vignette Corp. has announced that it is ranked as a leader in META Group Inc.'s METAspectrum reports for the Web Content Management (WCM) market in both the North America and Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regions.

META Group's METAspectrum for Web Content Management offers a critical assessment of vendors that provide solutions designed to drive Web sites, including capacity planning, site design and layout, look and feel, navigation, content development, production, content delivery, session tracking and site evolution. According to META Group, the core focus of Web Content Management products is to empower business users, webmasters and Web site developers to create and manage Web site content efficiently. In its report, META Group comments that Web Content Management is increasingly overlapping with the enterprise portal and enterprise content management markets.

Vignette is positioned in the leader segment of both METAspectrum evaluations and was specifically recognized for its strength in workflow, user interface, multisite management, and ability to integrate with portal, collaboration and document management solutions. META Group also notes that Vignette appeals to enterprise users looking to gain significant benefits from corporate content and Web sites.

"META Group developed the METAspectrum for the Web Content Management market to enable IT professionals to quickly evaluate vendors based on their ability to deliver on the presence and performance criteria that matter most in this market," said Gene Alvarez, vice president with META Group's Content & Collaboration Strategies group. "As internal and external Web presences continue to be key differentiators for organizations, the Web content management market is expected to command significant purchasing attention. Well-defined solutions that help users effectively manage Web sites and their associated content will be critical to achieving business goals and increasing customer satisfaction."

Vignette offers a comprehensive suite of solutions for compliance and governance, public Web site and brand management, employee intranets, customer self-service, and supplier and channel interaction that uses its enterprise content management, portal, integration, document and records management, and collaboration capabilities to deliver business efficiencies.

Vignette has also been recognized as a leader in Gartner's 2004 Magic Quadrant for the Smart Enterprise Suite (SES) market. This listing follows Vignette's positioning by Gartner in the leader quadrant of the 2004 Magic Quadrant for Horizontal Portal Products.
