Shortlist

Composite Application Views; Fair Isaac Blaze Advisor 6.0; Ipedo XIP 4.0; Bowstreet Dashboard Solutions

Composite Application Views
Distinguishing itself from its competition, enterprise information integration (EII) seller Composite exposes information from the application layer rather than only raw data from the database layer. Its first two Composite Application Views products, one for SAP and one for Siebel, show business and logical views of the data from those vendors' systems. Developers are thus mostly free to use ANSI-standard SQL instead of proprietary APIs, maintenance is easier and security/authentication is borrowed from the app. Patented join algorithms improve performance. Composite Software, www.compositesw.com

Fair Isaac Blaze Advisor 6.0
Fair Isaac has applied its analytic expertise to a new rules management technology inside this acquired rules engine. The changes are targeted at helping both technical and business users discover problems with rules and change them as needed while also upholding enterprise standards. Fair Isaac, www.fairisaac.com/rules

Ipedo XIP 4.0
A new, patented query architecture optimizes for both SQL and XQuery. A new visual rules editor lets nontechies create data preprocessing policies. Business Objects integration means data federated in Ipedo is directly available to that vendor's tools. The new Web services publishing option is directly accessible from developer tools. Ipedo, www.ipedo.com

Bowstreet Dashboard Solutions
Bowstreet culled best practices from helping customers use its Portlet Factory to create composite applications on leading J2EE portal platforms, now captured in packaged applications. The first two Dashboard Solutions, for sales and executives, tie in the user's dimensions, such as role, geography, brand and authorization level, with the dashboard's KPIs, reports and collaboration tools.
