re: Oracle Upgrades NoSQL Database, Big Data Appliance
I've seen Oracle float a few customer names for the NoSQL database and big data appliance in press releases, but I have yet to be offered a customer interview. As with Exadata, it will take several quarters to really get rolling. I'm told the vast majority of Exadata sales have been 1/4 racks, and at Oracle OpenWorld the company introduced an 1/8th rack. Biggest Exadata reference I've ever encountered was U.S. Customs and Border Patrol with a 96-terabyte deployment. That's not really the big data league (of hundreds of terabytes to petabytes) that others are playing in.
