JasperSoft Unveils Reporting Tools For Salesforce.com

JasperSoft Corp., a maker of open-source business intelligence software, launched on Monday reporting tools for Salesforce.com.

Jasper4Salesforce provides more advanced features for slicing and dicing data than the tools that ship with the customer relationship management system, which is offered as a Web service. While Salesforce.com provides reporting capabilities that are "definitely good enough to get you started, they're not interactive, or have drag and drop and drill through capabilities," Nick Halsey, vice president of marketing for JasperSoft, said.

Jasper4Salesforce runs on the Salesforce.com's AppExchange platform, which means a Salesforce customer can subscribe to the reporting service from within the CRM system. Subscribers would access JasperSoft reporting tools through a tab embedded in the Salesforce user interface.

Other competitors also provide advanced reporting capabilities for Salesforce, but they require customers to run both applications separately, Halsey said. JasperSoft is the first to have its tools embedded within Salesforce.com. That, however, is expected to change when Salesforce releases its annual upgrade next year.

Features of Jasper4Salesforce include drag and drop ad hoc report creation for business users, drillable dashboards, reports and charts; support for advanced custom formulas and filters; secure access to Salesforce data; and scheduling and report distribution by email.

Pricing for the new product starts at $20 a month for a minimum of five users.
