IBM Announces 15 New Middleware Solutions

Computing giant targets the energy and utilities, government, and consumer products industries.

IBM has announced 15 new middleware solutions for the energy and utilities, government, and consumer products industries. The targeting of specific industries with middleware continues a trend that IBM began in 2004. Since then it has announced more than 60 new middleware solutions, spanning 12 industries.

The new solutions specifically target challenges enterprises face with regard to regulatory change, privacy and security issues, and demand for increased industry collaboration.

Each announced industry solution combines IBM middleware technology (such as WebSphere, DB2, Tivoli, Lotus and Rational); industry-specific IBM middleware; industry-specific services from IBM and others; and industry-specific application software from IBM's network of Business Partners.

Earlier this year, IBM announced similar industry solutions for banking, insurance, financial markets, retail, healthcare, life sciences, automotive, electronics and telecommunications customers.
