Software Duo



Tarantella Inc. and CodeWeavers Inc. partnered last week in order to integrate Tarantella's Enterprise 3 remote access software with CodeWeavers' Linux-based CrossOver Office Server Edition, which lets users access Microsoft Office apps via a Java-enabled Web browser without having Windows on their desktops. Together, the companies can make more software available at lower cost by letting IT departments put apps on back-end servers and deliver them to thin clients via the Internet, says Warren Sheaffer, chairman of computer information systems technology at St. Paul's College in Minnesota, which uses the combo.
