An interesting site called SkyLounge is aimed at helping business travelers connect with co-workers and colleagues when they're on the road. Lounges can be business specific (the American Airlines Crew Lounge lets flight attendants and pilots see who's working which flights) or provide more general info for employees at specific companies (Acme Lounge lets employees post what cities they'll be in, when, so they can meet up with co-workers when they're there). Lounges can also be interest-based, letting golfers, say, meet other golfers from companies around the world, as well as get tips on the best places to tee off when business trips take them to unfamiliar locations.Of course, there's nothing to prevent any given company from setting up a similar site on its own intranet, with mash-ups to add details on hotels, restaurants and activities. But SkyLounge is free, and anyone can join. Now if they would just add real-time travel alerts, perhaps I could avoid spending eight hours on the runway, as I did returning home from Enterprise 2.0 last week!
