SightPath, Polycom Team Up To Deliver Video To Desktops
Multimedia companies SightPath Inc. and Polycom this weekwill detail plans to integrate their products. Their goal is
to make it easier for businesses to create and deliver video
to users' desktops without incurring costly network charges.
By integrating the Polycom StreamStation, a
videoconferencing product, and SightPath's Studio and
Appliance content-delivery products, developers can create
and deliver streaming media content across a local area
network, eliminating the need for costly wide area network
bandwidth, according to the companies.
SightPath says the idea to integrate its products with
Polycom's came from resellers for both companies, whose
customers were in search of ways to create and deliver high-
quality content at a reasonable cost. Says Ken Erion, VP of
technology at video system integrator Vision IT: "As
streaming media continues to drive demand for
videoconferencing and video over IP solutions, partnerships
like the one between Polycom and SightPath enable us to meet
demand.
