SAP, PeopleSoft Upgrade E-Business Offerings

SAP and PeopleSoft Inc. each unveiled enhancements to their E-business software today at the E-Business Conference & Expo in New York.

SAP introduced a new version of its business-to-business procurement suite, six customer-relationship management components, and an updated supply-chain management package. SAP Business-to-Business Procurement 2.0 supports multiple back-office systems, including both SAP and non-SAP applications, and features improved catalog capability from partner Requisite Technology. It is also easily integrated to mySAP.com marketplace, SAP's online business-to-business trading community.

Improvements to the company's Advanced Planner and Optimizer component promise better collaborative planning and vendor-managed inventory via the Internet. As promised, SAP shipped six new CRM components this week, including Internet sales, Internet customer self-service, service interaction, field sales, field service, and business collaboration. All the new SAP components feature the mySAP.com Workplace browser-based interface and are available today.

Meanwhile, PeopleSoft expanded its relationship with procurement partner Commerce One Inc. The company plans to integrate its order-management system with Commerce One's MarketSite, a business-to-business online marketplace. The joint offering will let PeopleSoft customers sell products on MarketSite and seamlessly provide product, pricing, and inventory availability information to participating buyers. The integrated order-management application will be available with the release of PeopleSoft 8 next year, but in the meantime PeopleSoft will provide integration services for customers that want to link their systems with MarketSite now.
