Samsung To Provide Easy Access To Google Mobile Services

Samsung will ship phones with a range of Google services preloaded, including one-click access to a search box, Web mail, and maps.

Cell phone maker Samsung Electronics has agreed to work with Google to make it easier for handset customers to access the search engine's mobile services on select phones.

The South Korean company said this week at the Consumer Electronics Show that it will ship this year several selected phones with a range of Google services preloaded. The services include one-click access to a search box, Web mail, and maps for finding local businesses and driving directions.

The first phone to ship under the deal is the slim Ultra Edition SGH-Z720 model. The handset includes a 3-megapixel camera, an MP3 player, and Bluetooth wireless technology.

Samsung also announced at CES a similar deal with Yahoo, agreeing to support in select phones the portal's mobile applications, including its new OneSearch product, a search engine tailored for handsets.
