Sabre System Consolidates Travel Data



Is your company cutting back on meeting expenses this year because of the slowing economy? The Sabre Group rolled out a new system this week that can help find the most cost-effective destination the next time you get together--and also register attendees, make their reservations, and even remember to book the boss in an aisle seat in the back of the plane.

The GetThere DirectMeetings system integrates two recent Sabre acquisitions, one aimed at individual corporate travelers and one at groups, with features designed to make everyone happy. Meeting planners can get all the data and details about travelers' preferences in one place. The system also can track a company's airline and hotel contracts, combine that information with the location of the people who will be attending a meeting, and come up with the best city and hotel at which to gather.

For the corporation, having a single system to handle individual and group travel "makes things an order of magnitude easier," and offers a single buying decision, a single customer interface, and a single point of service when things go wrong, meeting solutions VP Glenn Bingham says.

Sabre already has signed a dozen customers, including Dunn & Bradstreet, Kimberly Clark, and Scient.
