Ready For Romania

Offshore outsourcing isn't just about India and China. Chip supplier eSilicon Corp. bought a small design team in Romania this year and plans to expand its engineering staff from 15 to 50 within a year. It considered India and China. "Romania is half the cost of India, and there's almost nobody there poaching your staff, unlike India," CEO Jack Harding says.

Harding found "gross disregard for intellectual property" in China. That's improving, he says, and he predicts eSilicon will have a presence in China in a few years.
