Plaut Launches E-Business Consulting Unit

Plaut AG, an international management and consulting firm, today launched EdgeWing, a new E-business consulting unit that will focus on providing hosting and implementation services for midmarket companies.

Plaut, which specializes in designing, implementing, and hosting SAP software, will use EdgeWing as a channel to bring midmarket companies into the Internet age by connecting their back-end and legacy systems to front-end applications. EdgeWing will provide Web strategy development, Web-site design, systems integration, and application and Web-site hosting initially for its existing 30 clients, all of whom use SAP R/3.

EdgeWing, based in Waltham, Mass., was formed out of Plaut Consulting's existing IT services and hosting unit, Syntacom IT Services Inc. "Syntacom handled the integration and hosting of SAP R/3 for U.S. customers," says Michael Picard, VP of E-business integration services for EdgeWing. Through Plaut Consulting's acquisition of Lara Consulting Group in April, EdgeWing is able to leverage its design and building expertise with the ability to manage complex Web sites.

EdgeWing will maintain Syntacom's partnerships with companies such as AT&T, Data Systems, SAP, and Sun Microsystems. Picard says the new unit will build out its customer base slowly, favoring quality over quantity: "We want to establish quality clients and build a long-lasting relationship."
