Motorola Unveils Enhancements To Public Safety Networks
Enhancements include a wireless data system capable of delivering 96Kbps of data over current private radio frequency bands, and a remote speaker microphone with GPS tracking capability.Motorola announced Monday a family of communications solutions meant to improve public safety networks.
Motorola indicated the solutions will bolster more than 100,000-plus Motorola-equipped mission-critical sites in use internationally. The drive to improve public safety and government sites has increased since the terrorist attacks of 9/11.
The enhancements include a wireless data system capable of delivering 96Kbps of data over current private radio frequency bands, and a remote speaker microphone with GPS tracking capability. An IP Dispatch Console and real-time video monitoring capability solutions were also announced by Motorola at the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials International meeting.
The MCC 7500 Dispatch Console prioritizes emergency calls regardless of call volume or traffic loading while providing end-to-end encryption and direct IP connection without the need of central electronics or gateways, Motorola said in a statement. The MCC 7500 integrates seamlessly with ASTRO 25 systems and operates in both 700MHz and 800MHz bands.
“ASTRO 25 with High Performance Data is the first wireless data system to deliver 96Kbps of data in the current private radio frequency band,” Motorola stated. “ASTRO 25 with High Performance Data lays the foundation for transition to high-speed wideband data applications, such as digital video.”
The firm’s new Intelligent Video Surveillance and Control Solution (iVSC) enables users to use real-time video monitoring as well as real-time video surveillance. A new family of XTL mobile radios, all P25-compliant, enables users to scale up and down as priorities change.
The Motorola ASTRO 25 GPS personnel location tracking solution allows dispatchers to locate personnel operating outdoors.
