Mobile World Congress has been a great place to get lots of demonstrations on up-and-coming technology. One that has a lot of promise is near-field communications. Here's a video that shows how it can be used.This demonstration speaks for itself. Passing the phone over the tags automatically triggers downloads, opens applications, or performs just about any sort of task you can think of.

While NFC has been slower to gain traction than perhaps the industry woud like, the NFC Forum today stated that it expects to see large-scale deployments starting this year and stretching into next.

These particular demos show how you can get information from a poster. Aside from the video we downloaded, users also could get tourist information from kiosks, movie trailers, and things like that.

Of course, mobile payment systems are the golden egg that many in the industry are looking for. NFC is the technology that can get it done.
