New entries in Toshiba's laptop line are intended for SMBs, among other markets, and include a redesigned Tecra model and a new quad-core Qosmio. The most powerful of the new laptops is the Quosmio X500, which Toshiba recommends for "engineers, designers, and content creators." The 18.4-inch X500 uses an Intel i7 quad-core processor and a high-powered NVidia GeForce graphics chip and comes with a 500GB hard drive, a Blu-ray disc drive, and HDMI output. The X500 starts at $1,550.

The Tecra A11 is the stylish new entry -- Toshiba touts its "contemporary look and feel" and says it's thinner and lighter than its predecessor. The 15.6-inch laptop comes in three configurations, one with an Intel i3 processor and two with i5 processors; the top-end model also has a separate NVidia GeForce graphics chip. Prices for the Tecra A11 start at $880, with the i5-based model with the dedicated graphics chip starting at $1,200.

The lower-end model lists for $580, while the better-equipped version goes for $650.

The Satellite Pro and Tecra laptops come with Windows XP Professional installed but include Recovery Media for Windows 7 Professional; the Qosmio comes with Windows 7 Home Premium.
