Sun Launches SMB Initiative

ChannelWeb

Sun Microsystems wants to better serve the SMB market, with plans to use CDW as its preferred vehicle to do so.The Santa Clara, Calif.-based vendor is making available to businesses of up to 1,000 employees a wide portfolio of its server, storage and software products. Those include its entry-level SPARC processor-based servers and StorageTek arrays; operating systems including Solaris 10, Windows and Linux; and its MySQL open-source database.

SMBs can purchase directly from Sun or any value-added reseller -- some of whom expressed dismay that Sun is recommending CDW to customers to fulfill their purchases. That said, Sun has added an online partner locator feature on its Web site to help potential customers find any of the vendor's local channel partners.ChannelWeb
