Daniel Taylor at the Mobile Enterprise Blog asks a great question: What happened to Sprint Enterprise Mobility?Sprint launched its Enterprise Mobility group in December 2005. Later it said that the group would be carrier independent. There was a lot of enthusiasm for Sprint Enterprise Mobility at the time, but just a year and a half later, there's no sign that the group is in business. Even the Web site appears to be down.
Terry Sweeney at Unstrung wrote about the challenges faced by Sprint Enterprise Mobility just a little over a year ago:
The bad news is that this sort of thing -- a business unit devoted solely to enterprise mobility requirements -- has been tried before, not just by Sprint Nextel but also by Cingular Wireless LLC and Verizon Wireless, with mixed results.
By all appearances, it looks like Sprint Enterprise Mobility has gone down the path of "mixed results."
