New Tech Lets You Buy A Round Of Drinks With Your Phone

I think we've reached the pinnacle of innovation with this latest service, announced by Buzzd and its partners. Simply go to BuyYourFriendADrink.com and send your friends an alcoholic beverage from wherever you happen to be. I don't know about you, but I think now we can all put our feet up and relax.

Here's a joyful nugget of nonsense for ya on a Friday afternoon. Starting back on Aug. 1, anyone who is 21 years of age or older could go to BuyYourFriendADrink.com on their cell phone and fire off a memo and prepaid gift card to whomever they wish.

Can't make your buddy's bachelor party? No problem. Just use this service and you're all set. The phrase "I'll buy you a drink" no longer has to be an empty promise. With this new service, you no longer have an excuse!

Here are the Four Steps:

  • Step 1: Click on the Buy A Drink button on the home page, or in the top navigation bar.
  • Step 2: Fill out the gift information and a personalized note.
  • GIFT IS SENT AUTOMATICALLY Gift can be delivered in three ways: 1. Email; 2. Drink Card by mail (optional); 3. Text message (optional)
  • Step 3: GIFT RECIPIENT FINDS A BAR Gift recipient visits BuyYourFriendADrink.com and clicks on the Redeem My Drink button to locate a participating bar or restaurant in their area.
  • Step 4: GIFT RECIPIENT GETS DRINK At the bar, gift recipient orders drink(s) and hands the bartender the gift card, e-mail certificate, or text message code. The gift value is subtracted from the bill.

According to the site, 235 bars are participating in the program right now in 17 states across the country.

Wireless Week reports that the promotion is being run by Beam Global Spirits & Wine and Hornitos Tequila and Buzzd.

Gifts are good for a year, and can be paid for via PayPal or credit card.
