According to a screen capture from an AT&T support Web site, the new iPhone will be called the iPhone Video. Will it be the video-capturing and -editing powerhouse that's been rumored for nigh half a year now?InformationWeek editor Alex Wolfe first proposed that the next generation iPhone hardware would support video capture way back in February. Since then, myriad reports have bolstered this possibility with tidbits here and there of information.

The latest nugget to be filtered out contains a screen shot from AT&T's support Web site. In the picture (here), there's a menu to select from the different iPhone models. That menu lists "Original iPhone", iPhone 3G", and "iPhone Video".

What's this? A new name? Where did this come from? Surely it must be a brand-new iPhone that hasn't been released, right? Well, we hope so.

BusinessWeek's Peter Burrows feels the possibility is real. He notes that "Apple would differentiate the new iPhone by making it the first device that makes home movie-making mainstream." He posted as much back in April.

Clues found in iPhone 3.0 beta code indicate that the iPhone will support video editing and uploading capabilities. A Gizmodo tipster said he found references to such, and the blog reports, "Buried in the beta are some graphics that future iPhone directors might use for video editing. There are also some art resources that allegedly show scrubbing and clip features." It had earlier been discovered that the iPhone could possibly upload video through its MobileMe link.

Does all that add up to "the iPhone Video"? Not necessarily, but it's certainly a possibility. With any luck, we'll find out for sure in a few short days.
