Sony Ericsson is trying to turn some heads by unveiling Thursday a sleek and slim feature multimedia cell phone.

The T700 has a candy-bar shape that is pencil thin, measuring just 0.4 inches in thickness. It also has a polished-metal finish and a 2-inch TFT display.

While the T700 is aesthetically pleasing, it also sports many features that could make it desirable to a mobile professional. Sony Ericsson's latest handset has support for Microsoft's Exchange ActiveSync for push corporate e-mail as well as Web-based POP3 accounts like Gmail or Yahoo Mail.

The T700 has a WAP 2.0/HTML Web browser, and it's capable of mobile Internet access over 3G networks and EDGE connections. It also has an organizer, T9 capabilities, voice memo recorder, built-in hands-free controls, and expandable memory via a Memory Stick Micro slot.

Like the company's recently announced Walkman phones, the T700 is a music-friendly cell phone. The digital music player is capable of multiple codecs, there's an integrated FM radio, and a user can listen to tunes with Bluetooth headphones. Additionally, the T700 is capable of playing videos in the MPEG4, WMV, and H.263 formats.

The T700 sports a 3.2-megapixel camera that has flash and a self-portrait mirror. The camera can also be used to record videos.

The GSM handset measures 1.9 by 4.1 by 0.4 inches, and weighs 2.8 ounces. It is expected to be released in select markets in early fourth quarter. The company did not give an exact figure, but it did say the T700 would have a "mid-range" price point.
