Microsoft and T-Mobile have issued yet another statement on the status of Sidekick end-user data. According to them, Sidekick users should see some of their data return later this week. For the Sidekick users who actually lost their data, this latest update from Microsoft and T-Mobile should help them breathe a bit easier.

Danger, Microsoft and T-Mobile assure customers that they are working "around the clock on the data restoration process." The companies note that they are taking their time to ensure that all the data is recovered and remains intact. The companies said in a statement:

We continue to make steady progress, and we hope to be able to begin restoring personal contacts for affected users this week, with the remainder of the content (photographs, notes, to-do-lists, marketplace data, and high scores) shortly thereafter.

This data restoration effort is only necessary for customers who lost data from their Sidekick devices. We appreciate your ongoing patience.

While it is a relief that some of the data will be returned beginning this week, Microsoft doesn't sound too sure of itself just yet. By using language such as "we hope" instead of "we will", that means things are still a little but up in the air. None of the companies named an exact time frame for when users should expect to see their devices update and restore their data. With contacts returning "this week", I have to wonder how long it will take Microsoft to get to everything else.

What do you think, Sidekick users? Is two weeks without your contact and other data acceptable? Are you just happy to get the data back at all? Is this, plus the month of free service and $100 gift card enough to balance out your losses?

Please share your thoughts.
