Microsoft Pulls Vista Update

Computerworld

Following complaints of endless reboots, Microsoft has stopped distributing an update designed to prep Windows Vista for Service Pack 1.Microsoft is downplaying the extent of the problem, though traffic on the Vista SP1 newsgroup has been heavy, according to Computerworld. Either way, something is impeding the configuration of Update 937287, which modifies Vista's install components. Users report that they can't get past its third step; when they try to reboot, their PCs either go into an endless cycle of reboots or won't reboot normally.

Whether the problem delays SP1's rollout next month has not been addressed. "We are working to identify possible solutions and will make the update available again shortly after we address the issue," said Nick White, a Vista program manager, in a blog post.Computerworld
