Delta Airlines to Offer WiFi

Engadget, Associated Press

Delta Air Lines has announced plans to offer passengers fee-based WiFi on all domestic flights. To do so, Delta has partnered with Aircell, whose Gogo service will cost a flat fee of either $9.95 or $12.95, depending on the length of a flight. The service will support connection of any WiFi device, such as laptops, smartphones and PDAs. Rollout will begin with Delta?s fleet of 133 MD88/90 aircraft, then expand to Boeing planes. Installation is slated to be complete by next summer.

Aircell's system is extremely light, requires minimal space on the aircraft and can be installed overnight, according to Delta, which six week ago began testing a new mobile phone boarding pass program.Engadget, Associated Press
