Windows Mobile 7 has been rumored for at least two and a half years and back then, everyone thought it would be ready to go by late 2008 or early 2009. Now it is looking more like mid-late 2010 and no one is happy about that, including Steve Ballmer, the Microsoft CEO.According to WMPowerUser, Microsoft was at a Venture Capital Summit and Mr. Ballmer had a few things to say about Windows Mobile 7. One of the analysts, Paul Jozefak, reported "Ballmer says they screwed up with Windows Mobile. Wishes they had already launched WM7. They completely revamped the team."

Another analyst, Beninato, had his Twitter feed going and said "Ballmer re: poor execution in Windows Mobile: "we've pumped in some new talent and said 'This will not happen again'"

Wow, nothing like totally blasting your product team and longing for the next big release when your imminent release, Windows Mobile 6.5, is just days away. We'll have to see if Microsoft really has fixed the team and launch process for WinMo 7, and if they can keep up that momentum for WinMo 8, 9 and beyond.
