MicroVault Intros E-Billing System

MicroVault Corp. this week is unveiling a service that will make it easier for consumers to receive and pay bills online. The company's NetCourier Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment E-mail system translates paper bills into digital format and then routes them securely to recipients via E-mail.

The system uses 128-bit encryption to deliver billing information securely to consumers. With NetCourier, telephone, credit card, mortgage, and other companies can prepare and deliver bills as an E-mail attachment. Consumers can view the attachment, which can be opened using a password or personal identification number, then authorize payment by clicking an included button.

Geri Spieler, senior research analyst with Gartner Group, says secure E-mail attachments sent directly to the consumer make sense. "I'm glad to see that it's happening, because I think that is really where bill presentment and payment is going to land," Spieler says.

Available now, pricing is determined by system requirements and the volume of transactions.
