Sales of Microsoft's gory "Gears of War" video game have surpassed 2 million copies worldwide since its release six weeks ago.

The game, exclusive to Microsoft's Xbox game console, also was the hottest selling video game in the United States in November, according to the NPD Group. More than 1 million copies of "Gears of War" have been sold in the United States.

Microsoft and Epic Games make the video game, which also is popular online. Microsoft said "Gears of War" has more than 1 million unique gamers on Xbox Live.
