re: ADP's Mobile Application Plan: Small Is Beautiful
Thanks everyone for your questions. The ADP Mobile Solutions appG«÷s functionality expands well beyond pay stubs and W2s, enabling employees to update timesheets, request time off, view benefit plan information and contact colleagues through the Corporate Directory. Collectively, all this functionality aims to bring more flexibility to the individual employee. The value for them is they no longer are restricted to their laptop or desktop to pull up the payroll or HR information they need access to during a critical moment. For instance, if IG«÷m looking to buy a new car and am at the dealership, I can pull up my paystub and W2 to give them the information I need for a loan or payment. Knowing they now have all this functionality at their fingertips on their mobile device, more employees, weG«÷re finding, are reviewing their HR information much more frequently.

"Simple" is an easy goal that's hard to enforce. One tool a project leader recently told me he used was having a single person who could make the call on whether a feature got in or out. The alternative is bloat as everyone gets their one thing added, and the project faces death by compromise.

This was new to me, but i guess whatever ADP is offering is already available for free on application store of android and ios, curious to understand what extra an average employee can enjoy in this...

So ADP's mobile apps are meant for use by the individual employee? What's the advantage of having an app for this one specific purpose (checking pay stubs and W2s?) and how do you compete for space on the mobile device screen?

Many consider Salesforce.com to be the pioneer and leader in cloud computing, but ADP has been delivering human-resources services for
decades, with more than $10 billion in revenue and 600,000 customers,
mostly through its payroll processing services.
So while you hear a lot about SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM and Workday, keep in mind that ADP has more than 30,000 HCM customers running one of three services: ADP Workforce Now is for companies with fewer
than 1,000 employees, Vantage HCM is for organizations with more than 1,000
employees, and GlobalView is for multinational organizations.

re: ADP's Mobile Application Plan: Small Is Beautiful
This goes to show that a simple, clear mission statement - ease of use above all - is incredibly powerful. Of course, putting an elegant front end on an extremely complex set of inputs is anything but simple, but it pays off - 1.25 million people say so.
