re: Oracle's Week Of Mega Deals Leaves Questions
It's hard to see the practical value to Salesforce.com. Force.com developers are dying to use WebLogic and Fusion middleware? Why are they on Force.com? The value to Oracle is that it doesn't look so hopelessly out of the real changeover to cloud computing. Doug's got it about right. Charlie Babcock, InformationWeek editor at large

That whole false cloud debate had to go. Hybrid cloud is too prevalent to be denied.

That referred to Jason Maynard's comment. The article was balanced. And it accurately assessed that Oracle is ceding cloud credentials to smaller competitors and has given up on crm on demand. It smells like desperation. But if you are losing the war, I suppose you have to try something different.

Not clear on what you're saying is nonsense? That the two companies will cooperate? That they'll have joint product integrations? That they'll bury the hatchet and play nice? All of the above? What about the Microsoft and NetSuite deals? Just window dressing in your book?

Nonsense. Marc wanted approval from Uncle Larry and a better deal on database licenses. Oracle needed to look relevant again. Won't amount to anything because reps in the field will continue to trash each other and box out the other guy. Forgotten about in 2 weeks

Start with "SAP Clings To A Dated Cloud Apps Strategy" and "SAP Hype Vs. Oracle FUD" . As for this article, I don't read anything pro SAP in it. Just pointing out that Oracle and Salesforce will now likely point all their guns at SAP rather than each other.

Why is Doug Henschen so pro-SAP? I challenge anyone to dig up his articles and come up with something objective and non pro-SAP.

re: Oracle's Week Of Mega Deals Leaves Questions
Wells Fargo analyst Jason Maynard in a note to investors called this alliance "perhaps the biggest move in the industry since Oracle launched its hostile takeover for PeopleSoft," and said Benioff even sounded open to a private cloud deployment of Salesforce on Oracle systems. I wonder if this will force other alliances among the giant vendors.
