re: CFOs Join CMOs In Tech Power Grab
Interesting article and fascinating study! I would maybe add another point: there seems to be a trend towards a different type of CIOs, with a somewhat different skill- and leadership profile, which thrive in this brave new collaborative digital world.

-They have intellectual horsepower and curiosity. They think in fresh and different
ways with the intent of breaking new ground. They have the ability to share,
explain and GǣsellGǥ their thoughts, processes, ideas and opinions, even outside
their own span of control.

-They are able to navigate internal and partner organizational landscape,
successfully negotiate political scenarios, but are careful not to be overly
ambitious or to Gǣpull rank.Gǥ

-They embrace change and have a strong competitive edge. They enable and
encourage innovation from all levels of the organization, including establishing
the mechanisms and rewards to facilitate innovation. They make use of this
innovation to consistently challenge accepted paradigms and implement new
business models.

-They recognize that the ability to think GǣfreshGǥ can come by embracing the
diversity which comes with their teamGs mix of perspective, working and thinking
styles, and background.

-Energy, Conviction and Courage. They have an ability to consistently display
an infectious positive energy and an optimistic outlook for their business.

-They have a burning passion for technology. GNuff said.

Agreed. I plead guilty to playing on the angst a bit to stir interest with the headline, but I think the story clearly describes this as a collaborative endeavor. re: CFOs Join CMOs In Tech Power Grab
This discussion often pivots on the C-level execs, and usually on the CIOs' existential worries about their influence. But the takeaway for me is that tech's importance and influence in companies is only growing, so it's only good news for tech pros. If great technologists are valued and sought after to work in marketing or finance, rather than the IT department, it's good news for technologists. (And CIOs will be just fine.)
