Eric, I don't see what tweaks might be required to allow a Facebook launcher in place of the standard Android home screen. It's possible today to download any number of Home Screen replacement launchers that can then be enabled or disabled by the user at will. The only reason I could see for tweaks is to completely replace the standard Android Home Screen launcher with the new one for Facebook, which would definitely discourage me from purchasing such a device.

I certainly hope that's not the direction they're headed, but I guess we'll know more next week.

If, as the article states, Facebook would be "more tightly integrated with the user interface of Android devices, and might even replace the usual Android home screen with its own" -- I would probably jump to a device like the iPhone to prevent this from occurring with my device. Don't get me wrong -- I like having the Facebook app on my phone, but I want to keep it as just that -- an app. My mobile phone usage does not revolve around Facebook, my news feed, or posting status updates. So I wouldn't want a phone that forces me to use it as such.
