Record Breaking!
A lot of people in the cloud world are exciting to see if the super computer is record breaking. Being able to boast "to carry out 3 million calculations per second." is no small matter. In a couple of months the world of computers might get a lot faster.

re: Energy Dept.'s Titan Supercomputer: Record Breaker?
I can't even imagine how they calculated that the computer could process 3 million uses by each of the 7 billion people on earth every single second. It makes me think about how low tech our every day computers really are. I used to think that the newest computers on the market were the newest technology.

Sounds like another tremendous waste of taxpayer dollars to me. There are plenty of other (cheaper) ways that the Energy Dept could be running these simulations.
