Hi, We recently did a survey and asked about this -- sorry for the bad formatting, but essentially, Unix/Linux is at about 22%. You can get the full results at reports.informationweek.com in the Servers and Storage section.

Not sure where you reside, the answer does differ by region. In the US, IBMs server marketshare is approximately 3% of the market with Linux hovering between 7-8%. In Europe Linux and IBMs marketshare is higher with a combined 22% of the market. In Asia/Far East IBM's share is higher in higher end business but Linux is not and Microsoft Server market is still in the 40%+ range (due to piracy and other factors there is no good way to determine the install base other than by anonymous survey.

Microsoft Windows Server is in no way the "undisputed kingpin" in the server OS space. Over 60% of e-mail, DNS, and web servers are *nix. Over 90% of HPCs are *nix based. You're also ignoring IBM's z/OS.
