Re: ScaleArc
Quick note of clarification. I'm with ScaleArc - wanted to explain our difference vs. Zerto. Our software is not replication software, as Zerto is - we're not making a copy of the data. Instead, our software sits in front of replicated databases - the databases do the replication, not us. Apps connect to our software, and then our software connects to the databases. We distribute load to all active database servers, enabling active/active ops, and we enable apps to avoid any disruption during a database failover, masking that failover to the apps/user. We typically complement database replication - perhaps we could also complement Zerto replication, but we're not ourselves doing the replication. Hope that helps.

Doesn't everybody do active/active? Not everybody starts there
Yes, active/active is supported by Zerto, VMware, BlueLock, Sungard, Veeam, HAProxy, F5 Networks and Stack Overflow, among others, all of whom have advanced disaster recovery to an advanced stage. But ScaleArc wishes to purge disaster recovery as a concept for database servers and set up systems so that the only possibility is one active system fails over to another instantly ready to go. There's no identifiable disaster and there's no recovery period. Not everybody starts out there.

ScaleArc
Isn't what ScaleArc is proposing already supported by applications like Zerto? They aim to also have seemless transition over to another "active" system. I'm a bit confused on what ScaleArc is bringing to the table different than a Zerto, or is it simply a Zerto competitor? Overall though, I do agree with the premise of the article.
