Alexa wasn't listed as a "must have" for last year's Holiday shopping -- I think it was vastly under played by the tech watchers and press.

And so it was, as it pushes into the home

Amazon is showing skill at adding "skills" to Alexa
Among other accomplishments of the second quarter, Amazon officials cited the 1,900 "skills" that are now available through the Alexa voice-activated in-home device. Skills are added by third parties to Alexa's core ability to order goods from For example, Fitbit stats can be automatically uploaded to Alexa, then a Fitbit user can ask Alexa how many steps he or she took that day. The latest to add skills are Kayak, Lyft, NBC and Honeywell.
