Avenue for growth
I think the next avenue of growth in technology will come in the area of education particularly at primary and secondary levels. Still a vast majority of students at school level are using little no technology at all. That presents an opportunity to integrate technology as part of the learning process through hardware and software. I would expect a lot of other companies to invest in this area.

@shamika: I think apart from the data that's captured through the conventional methods such as students' performance and their preferences, what needs to be captured are things like what is the attention span of students towards a particular teacher or duing a class, what teaching methods to the students react most favorably towards etc.

Most of the websites and integrated data systems at schools are still terrible too. It is obvious that schools are recognizing the need but there is still a huge gap to bridge.

@progman2000: schools are becoming more and more violent and unsafe for kids. I wouldn't be surprised if in 10 years time student sit for an all digital classroom, i.e. listen to a teacher give video lectures on Live air. Too bad the kids wouldn't have any social life then.

Re: Good initiative
@Tzubair: you mean statistics right? It's a nice idea to get some statistics on what kind of teaching gets the most attention of the students. Suppose there is a system where a digital assistant can tell the teacher that the interest of students in class is rapidly decreasing and the teacher should be changing the way he/she teacher.

@Tzubair: You are correct. Integrating technology would mean students will find the fun in learning. Just like Duolingo. It makes learning a new language so much easier that you don't even want to keep a tutor

I agree. However it is also important to know the limits when integrating technology with the School curriculum.

Re: Good initiative
@tzubair Identifying the teaching methods will definitely help to understand how useful it was. I think the main purpose of these researches should increase productivity and knowledge of the students. Otherwise it will be a waste of time and money.
