Re: Am I missing something?
I am underwhelmed by the whole "app market" these days, so perhaps I am not the cynical voice to follow. I've read a little about the Peach app that took the "world" by storm for a few days recently, and it all seems very, very derivative at this point. A new app, a new social platform that mixes the best of this app and that tool ... how about an app to cure cancer? That would impress me.

No, I don't think you're missing anything. I am sufficiently underwhelmed as well.

Sunita, that's an amazing demographic and not what I expected. Do youngsters even know what Microsoft is? Is that your supposition? Or did you see that target demo somewhere?

Re: Bizarre beauty standards
@Broadway: The app really is targeted for 15-25 years of age people. And hey if someone finds peace in seeing their unreal beautified pictures on their computers or on their phones, then who are we to debate whether that is right or wrong?

Re: Bizarre beauty standards
@Whoopty: Every photo app nowadays promotes unreal perfection. Look at B612. I see my selfies clicked there and I see myself in the mirror. Such differences are hard to digest.

Re: Bizarre beauty standards
@Nasimson: They have been and I haven't the slightest clue why. However it is good for showbusiness because we tend to like sharp and "pointy" things. Also things that look like "rich".

@Whoopty:

Look at the covers of PlayBoy, Vogue, Metro, Vanity ... Aren't the slimmest & fairest have already been made ideals (and idols) by the popular media?

Re: Bizarre beauty standards
Whoopty, I suppose that's why everyone is downloading it --- that ability to give yourself a facelift before sending out any photos. So I change my opinion --- the app must be doing well with baby boomers and the teenage demo.

Bizarre beauty standards
Filtering and auto-correcting images to take a better picture is one thing, but removing wrinkles and essentially automatically photoshopping people is a really disappointing addition. Does unreal perfection really need to be the norm?
