Re: I was stuck in traffic...
I am moving to Sweden. They changed their working hours from 9 hours to 6 hours. Now I can get the extra three hours to browse random stuff on the web and taking part in iOS vs Android vs Windows discussions.

I was stuck in traffic...
Sorry boss. My regular internet connection was down so I had to tether the transporter to my 4G connection and there just wasn't enough bandwidth to get here on time.

Re: Haha?
@vnewman2: I'm just surprised that work technology that should reduce our work actually increases it. This was already bad during the 00s but now it is even worse. Back then we could give excuses that we coudn't check our work email because our computer had shut down unexpectedly. Nowadays the boss asks "you have a smartphone right? Why couldn't you check it there?". Newer technology means a lot of newer excuses to come up with.

Re: Haha?
I must have been working way too much in the 00 decade because I never even heard this term before.  I had to look it up.   Thanks for enlightening me!

I often laugh at how California Labor laws require I keep a time sheet down to the minute that I walk in and out the door here and HR always reminds us how the firm has to pay us for every minute we work (I'm non-exempt because I'm not a manager).

But the first thing I do when I wake up is check my work email at home to see if there's a fire waiting for me when I arrive.  It's the last thing I do before bed as well.  Do I get paid for that?  No.  Can I come in later if I do that?  No.  And what about the time I spend in the bathroom, should I be docked for that?  Or the chit-chat I have in hallway?   It's comical to me with all the technology we have today that we are still "working" as if we are in a factory on an assembly line.

Haha?
Come on! Surfing news while sitting on the toilet is the only thing I'm talented at! I'm a digital native and I'm proud of it. I don't care if I'm getting fired as long as I can't buy the newest iPhone.

Oh wait. I tried this attitude once, and it got me fired, and unable to buy the iPhone 5.

That is a seriously funny comic.

Serious. Dead. Serious.

But funny.

Haha?
