Squarely on the anti-AI side
In apocolyptic movies, it's usually people with the motto "do not harm" who end up doing the most harm. So this article does not but confirm my agreement with the majority of celebrity geniuses who believe AI is a threat to humanity. And a curator of content and news, I am offended by Schmidt's debasement of the editing profession.

Re: Squarely on the anti-AI side
OK, you elitist tastemaker you.

AI is a tool, just like a knife.

If misused, it can harm.

If used correctly, it can perform things we need done.

Re: Squarely on the anti-AI side
larry, I think the problem with your analysis is that you assume AI can be controlled by its users. The problem is that with AI, at a certain point, it becomes a self-sufficient, sentient tool, and thus no longer a tool but a participant, an actor. Then it's up to it whether it's going to be useful or harmful.

Whether or not it is used in the first place can be controlled.

It's like whether or not you turn on Skynet, you know?
