NFL
I wish the NFL had advanced stats like this. Instead, outside companies like Pro Football Focus are providing advanced metrics. It would not surprise me if eventually the NFL ends up buying PFF to compete with other leagues like the NBA which seem to be far ahead in this regard.

NBA Teams : Let the League do the Heavy Analytics Lifting

This was really interesting to see.   NBA teams don't really need to do Analytics in-house anymore - the NBA is doing it for them.

And Sara no matter how terrible your Knicks are the Lakers are still worse.  Kobe, please, please retire !

Re: NFL

@danielcawrey   I am surprised the NFL has not done this as well - but you have a point - they will probably act like Microsoft and buy the assets they cannot develop.

NBA Data Inputer: A Nice Gig

I feel for the poor person(s) who has to input every movement and shot during the game - and where are the cameras that record the analytical data ?    I want to keep an eye out for it next year ....

Come to think of it I might apply for this job - can you put in a good word for me Sara ?

NBA analytics
Coming from IT, its clear sports management and many fans enjoy the values presented in deep analytics. In the past few years, however, analytics have transposed to the actual players' psycho and neurologic attributes. Fans would likely never see this kind of data; only coaches. I say this because the athletes themselves are not being asked how they personally feel about such intense bio-profiling in conjunction with their performance stats. Analytics is becoming more invasive to athletes. It accounts for thought process, brain neural path discovery, personality traits, how they perceive, attain and store information and lots, lots more. Frankly, when I go to work it is not the type of privacy interrogation I'd be willing to deal with all the time.
