Re: Time Killers At Work: How TO Avoid Them
Bateye,

And how many companies (of those existed 20  years ago) are still around today?

Hardly any.

If that does'nt tell you that most Companies mess up more things than they get right;nothing else will!

Re: Know your habits
Brian,

You raised an excellent point here-

I wonder if normal users that might have a few hundred users in their social media cycle also understand the importance of off-time and self-time.

You know what I feel?

People will eventually realize the virtues of taking offtime and me-time just for themselves as this Whole Social-Media fad fades away decisively.

It will happen eventually,I am quite certain about it.

FreeSpirit,

APMs really do work well(when they are tuned towards the needs of the Enterprise).

Especially if the Employee gets honest, realistic feedback on what they are doing well and what they are'nt today.

There is nothing like a Good APM!

Re: Time Killers At Work: How TO Avoid Them
I agree about the vending machine and health searches, but I disagree about performance reviews. I look forward to my annual performance review. I call it my "report card". It lets me know what I am doing right and what I need to work on. I would prefer to have a sit down with my boss, but then again I am sure that would be a "time killer" too.

Re: Know your habits
That is a great point. I know of professionals that monitor millions of users and their sentiment, these professionals often talk about off-time or self-time, so that opportunity is provided to make sense of it all or to automate procedures to become more effective.

I wonder if normal users that might have a few hundred users in their social media cycle also understand the importance of off-time and self-time.

Re: The Daily Unnecessary Meeting .....
Vanessa,

You will be amazed to know that such Worker-Bees (who are forver in Meetings) are slowly but surely about to become Obsolete as we go ahead.

Look at what happened with the "Halocracy model" for instance.

All Middle-Managers/Top-Level Managers who very just simply sending emails and PPTs all day suddenly realized they have nothing to do and had to Leave.

Its happening in a lot of Top Heavy Organizations(across Industries) today.

About time too!

Re: Know your habits
Sachin,

Its true that we can only control our Behavior here(rather than worrying ahout what other people around us do).

If we don't permit those noises and make it clear to folks around us that those noises are unwelcome atleast some folks will decide to introduce "Silence Zones" around us to get work done more effectively.

For the rest of them?

Use your headphones with Noise-Cancelling Features instead!

LOL!

Regards

Ashish.
