Fun with YouTube
I don't know what it is but I think I could do a full marathon between Honest Trailers and People reading mean tweets.  I wonder what that says about me!

The armored skeptic is another personal favorite of mine, and can't forget our Canadian gourmet friends of Epic Meal Time, whose YouTube popularity landed them a show of a similar theme.

Re: Fun with YouTube
@stratustician- The Mean Tweets phenomenon is really quite amazing. You'd think it might have some affect on our tweets, but it doesn't seem to. We seem to have no shortage of mean tweeters. Sometimes I wonder if there are people who tweet in an effort to get turned into a mean tweet for something like this. You know, the way people used to get excited that their letter to the editor got published.

Re: Fun with YouTube
@David: These Mean Tweeters generally enjoy their fifteen minutes of fame. I don't really see the point of mean tweets being a trend. Okay, people can have many angles to their words but deliberately making it a habit of shaming others is too much.

@Stratustician: Probably the best video series on youtube is the Epic Rap Battles of History. I have a favorite few like: Bill Gates vs Steve Jobs and Albert Einstein vs Stephen Hawking. You should check that out.

I forgot about Epic Rap Battles. Those are so hilarious too! Mr. T vs Mister Rogers is a personal fave.

@Stratustician: I love the Bill Nye vs Issac Newton rap battle. Especially when Neil deGrasse Tyson comes up and says "Why don't you pick on a brain you own size." It cracks me up everytime.

Also the Vine series on YouTube are an awesome and entertaining series. I think YouTube was a great boon to us because unlike other websites it makes uploading and streaming a bit faster. I also think Google should let Youtube regulate its laws on copyright material.

Re: Fun with YouTube
The number of documentary on YouTube has been increasing, it is a good thing. Since most of the producers of documentaries have their pages verified and the documentaries are being uploaded by their teams, copyright violations might not be taking place. I wonder if producers are experiencing better ROI from YouTube.

Thanks for not including Gangnam Style - and thanks for including the one of the girl growing up.  That was cool, I plan on showing my 12yr old daughter, she will dig it (Neil deGrasse Tyson was way cool too).

10 years already?
It's amazing that it's been 10 years already, but it does feel like Youtube has always been part of the online world at this point. It's bizarre to think back to pre-2005 era internet that didn't feature an easy place to watch and upload videos to.

I'm sure in 10 years we'll look back at now as a time without some other important web technology and wonder how we did without it.

Re: 10 years already?
Wow, where did the time go?? I can't believe it's been that long. I did the math and realized 23 years ago, I was clueless about YouTube. It took me longer than most to discover YouTube, but I loved it ever since!

Re: 10 years already?
Happy Anniversary YouTube! Thanks for all of your "how to" videos. Thanks to YouTube! I learned how to make homemade lip gloss and crocheted flowers. I also learned how to make sock buns, waterfall braids, and nail designs. Thanks to YouTube, I learned how to remove bagworms off of evergreen trees and how to replace a front end on my Nissan Maxima. Thanks again YouTube!

Is youtube making money?
After ten years of operation, millions of users and billions of hours of content, is youtube making money now? Or is it still being subsidized by Search business?

Re: Is youtube making money?
@impactnow. True. People with various skills and talents have been discovered from YouTube, which caused their income to grow. Mindy from Cute Girls Hairstyles became a sensation with thanks to YouTube. Her twins even have a YouTube channel that has become a success. Mindy's husband quit his job to assist Mindy behind the scenes in her career, in which YouTube was the mainspring for her booming career. Music artists and make-up artists have been discovered on YouTube, which opened up doors for them. Sophia Grace was discovered online and wad called onto the Ellen Show several times. She has 2 singles out now.
